Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy announced that Will Howard will start at quarterback in Friday night’s preseason game against the New York Jets, with rookie Drew Allar taking over after him. Aaron Rodgers and Mason Rudolph will both sit out the exhibition, meaning Howard and Allar are set to split every quarterback rep in the game. McCarthy explained that both passers are young, noted that Howard did not get to play last season, and said he wants to max out the opportunities for both. Howard completed 7 of 9 passes for 86 yards in the preseason opener against Green Bay. The extended volume for both quarterbacks makes Pittsburgh’s pass-catchers running with the second and third units live value plays in preseason DFS pools.
