The Milwaukee Brewers matched the modern-era record for the biggest shutout in baseball history, beating the Seattle Mariners 22-0 on Tuesday night. Christian Yelich, David Hamilton and Luis Lara each hit three-run homers and Jake Bauers added a two-run shot as Milwaukee tied its franchise record for runs in a game, originally set on Aug. 28, 1992. Lara’s blast was the first of his career, and it came during a nine-run eighth inning against Mariners infielder Leo Rivas. Hamilton’s four RBIs were a career high, Yelich and Lara also drove in four apiece, and Garrett Mitchell had four hits. Kyle Harrison (10-3) held Seattle to two hits over five innings. The major league-best Brewers improved to 78-48. Since 1901, the only other 22-0 wins were Pittsburgh over the Cubs on Sept. 16, 1975 and Cleveland at the Yankees on Aug. 31, 2004.
